Steno Pad privacy policy

Last updated 14 October 2026

Steno Pad does not collect your data. What you record, and the text made from it, stay on your device.

What stays on your device

Your recordings, transcripts, summaries, speaker names, folders and custom dictionary are stored only in the app's own storage on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. They are never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see them, and there is nothing on a server to request, leak or sell.

Steno Pad has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It contains no third-party code that collects information about you.

How your recordings are processed

When the app uses the network

Apart from these, Steno Pad makes no network requests.

Backups, and things you share

If you back up your device to iCloud or to a computer, your notes are included in that backup the same way other apps' files are. That is between you and Apple, under your device's settings.

When you export or share a transcript, it goes where you send it, and nowhere else.

Deleting your data

Delete a note in the app to remove its recording and its text. You can also delete only the recording and keep the text. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Children

Steno Pad is not directed at children, and it collects no information from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
