Steno Pad support

Write to support@z-proj.com and a person will answer. Steno Pad cannot see your recordings, so please describe what happened rather than assuming we can look it up.

The first transcript is taking minutes

After you install or update Steno Pad, your device has to prepare the speech model once. This takes a minute or two, and the app starts it as soon as you open it. Every transcript after that begins within seconds.

It wrote my recording in the wrong language

Open the note and tap the language under its title, then choose the right one. The note is transcribed again from its audio. If it keeps happening, set your language in Settings instead of "Detect automatically".

No words appear while I record

Check that "Show words while recording" is on in Settings, under Recording. It starts on with iPhone 15 Pro and later and with iPads that support Apple Intelligence, and off on other devices. The words also wait while the speech model is being prepared, while an earlier recording is still being transcribed, and while the device is hot. Without Pro they stop at 2 minutes. None of this affects the recording itself.

The transcript differs from the words I saw while recording

The words shown during a recording are a first draft, written a little at a time. When you stop, Steno Pad transcribes the whole recording again with more care, and that transcript is the one it keeps.

A name or a term is always misspelled

Add it to the custom dictionary in Settings. To fix it in a note you already have, use Find and replace from the note's menu.

There is no summary

Summaries are written by Apple Intelligence on your device. They need a device that supports it, with Apple Intelligence turned on in the Settings app.

I paid for Pro and the app does not show it

Open Settings in Steno Pad and tap "Restore purchases", signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you bought it with.

Cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
